Review of trials establishes link between HRT and stroke

A new review of trials has found that hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is associated with a 29% increased risk of stroke and particularly ischemic stroke. HRT also increased the severity of strokes. Some previous studies made findings that indicated that HRT may have a protective effect against ischemic stroke but this is now believed to be wrong and HRT should not be recommended as stroke prevention measure.
