The results of almost 20 clinical trials all concur that soy can reduce some of the symptoms of menopause including frequency and intensity of hot flashes, night sweats, fatigue. The incidence of hot flashes was reduced by 30 to 50%. The interest in soy initially began when it was noted that only 9% of Asian women (whose diet is high in soy) suffered from hot flashes during menopause whereas the incidence among Western women was 80-90%.
