The Oleic acid component of the olive oil used in the Mediterranean diet may be responsible for breast cancer prevention

The Mediterranean diet which is high in olive oil is believed to have a preventative effect on breast cancer in women as well as heart disease in men and women. Scientists now believe that the oleic acid is the ingredient responsible for the protective effect.
