Waist size and not weight could be a predictor for diabetes risk

A study by the Birmingham University indicates that risk of type 2 diabetes increases in 'apple shaped' people. Women with a waist bigger than 34 inches and men with a waist bigger than 40 inches had a very high risk of developing diabetes. In fact, these same conditions can also predict heart disease better than weight measurements.
