Western scientists hope to unlock secrets of Chinese herbal medicines.

Australian and Chinese scientists will work together to isolate active ingredients in traditional herbal preparations in order to use it against obesity and diabetes. Chinese herbal remedies have been proven to be effective but herb efficacy can vary depending on where it was grown and thus the need to find the active ingredient.
