Body of the Ilium: The body of the ilium is one of the portions of the ilium. The body of the ilium creates a part of the acetabulum and hip joint along with the body of the ischium and the body of the pubis. The body of the ilium provides attachment and origin for part of the obturator internus muscle. Conditions that can afflict the body of the ilium include Paget's disease of bone, arthritis, trauma, osteomyelitis, cancer, inflammation and fracture.
