Merkel's Disks: Merkel's disks are nerve endings located in the skin's epidermis and mucosa and are a type of mechanoreceptor and a part of the sensory nervous system. Merkel's disks pick up sensations of pressure and texture from the skin and mucosa and relay it the peripheral nervous system, which connects to the central nervous system and to the brain.
