Glossary for Polycystic liver disease

  • Abdominal conditions: Medical conditions affecting the abdominal region.
  • Abdominal discomfort: The sensation of discomfort located in the abdomen
  • Digestive Diseases: Diseases that affect the digestive system
  • Fatty liver: Fatty liver disease can range from fatty liver alone (steatosis) to fatty liver associated with inflammation (steatohepatitis). This condition can occur with the use of alcohol (alcohol-related fatty liver) or in the absence of alcohol (nonalcoholic fatty liver disease [NAFLD]).
  • Genetic Disease: Any disease that is handed down to oneself through the chromosomes of ones parents
  • Liver conditions: Any condition that affects the liver
  • No symptoms: The absence of noticable symptoms.
  • Polycystic kidney disease: Genetic kidney disease causing kidney cysts.
  • Primary ciliary dyskinesia: A very rare disorder where the cilia fail to move. The cilia are tiny, hair-like structures found in the respiratory and ear passages and help to clear debris and mucus. This results in increases risk of respiratory infections, sinusitis, ear infections and male infertility. The infertility results as the tails of sperm is basically cilia.
