What is Polyhydramnios?
- Polyhydramnios: Excess amniotic fluid around a fetus in the womb. The condition may occur as a result of gastrointestinal, neurological, lung or other disorders. Mild cases are asymptomatic but more severe cases can result in problems for the mother and the baby.
- Polyhydramnios: Excess of amniotic fluid greater than 2,000 ml. It is a common obstetrical complication whose major causes include maternal diabetes, chromosomal disorders, isoimmunological disease, congenital abnormalities, and multiple gestations.
