  • Cholestatic jaundice
  • Hypocalcemia
  • Idiopathic in many patients

  • HIV
  • Medications e.g. lithium, iodides, high blood pressure medications
  • Alcohol
  • Stress
  • Exposure to cold weather
  • Smoking
  • Sunburn and other injuries to the skin
