Queensland tick typhus: Introduction
A form of typhus that is transmitted by North-Queensland ticks. Typhus is a general name for a rickettsial infection transmitted by arthropods (insects with a hard outer skeleton such as ticks). It is similar to Rocky Mountain spotted fever but is not as severe. Symptoms including headache, fever, sore lymph nodes and flu-like symptoms usually occur 1 to 11 days after infection and treatment usually involves antibiotics. ...more »
