Symptoms of Stomach cancer

Symptoms of Stomach cancer: Introduction

Symptoms of stomach cancer can vary among individuals. Many people experience no symptoms at all in the early stages of stomach cancer. Symptoms of stomach cancer can also be vague and very similar to other diseases, disorders and conditions. These symptoms can include stomach pain or upper abdominal pain, weight loss, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, bloating after eating a small amount of food, and difficulty swallowing (dysphagia).

Other symptoms include vomiting blood (hematemesis) and having black, tarry stools or frank blood in the stool (melana).

Complications of stomach cancer can be serious and life-threatening. These include pyloric stenosis. Pyloric stenosis can develop if a tumor creates an obstruction of the pylorus, the connection between the stomach and the small intestine. Symptoms of pyloric stenosis include projectile vomiting.

Untreated and/or advanced stomach cancer can also grow and spread (metastasize) to other parts of the body, such as the lymphatic system and the liver, pancreas, and esophagus. Stomach cancer that has metastasized can eventually become fatal....more about Stomach cancer »
