How serious is Stuve-Wiedemann syndrome?

Prognosis of Stuve-Wiedemann syndrome: Historically death usually occurs during the first years of life but more patients are surviving for longer if they are diagnosed and their condition monitored appropriately. Patients may survive to about 16 years. Death usually results from recurring severe fevers, and sometimes respiratory distress or apnea.
