Pull-through can also be accomplished in two separate surgeries: the first involves removing the diseased portion and creating an ostomy (ileostomy or colostomy) for fecal waste to the outside of the body; the second involves pulling the healthy colon and connecting it to the rectum and removing the ostomy.
