Snore (medical condition): is the vibration of respiratory structures and the resulting sound, due to obstructed air movement during breathing while sleeping.

Snore (medical condition): In many cases, snoring is a normal and relatively harmless condition. It is often exacerbated by respiratory disorders (e.g. blocked nose), drinking alcohol, obesity, and so on. However, there is a darker side, where snoring can be a serious symptom of sleep apnea (or other type of "sleep-disordered breathing"), such as related to an underlying cause of tonsilitis or adenoiditis. Sleep apnea can be a potentially dangerous medical condition that needs to be ruled out. Sleep apnea is often caused by obesity in adults, or by a tonsil disorder or adenoiditis in children.
