Glossary for Teeth grinding

  • Anxiety: A feeling of apprehension, and fear without apparent stimulus that is associated sometime with somatic responses
  • Dental conditions: Conditions that affect ones dentition
  • Dislocated jaw: Improper separation of the jaw bones
  • Ecstasy abuse: Use of the illicit drug called ecstasy
  • Head Conditions: Conditions that affect the head
  • Insomnia: Insomnia is defined as repeated difficulty with the initiation, duration, maintenance, or quality of sleep that occurs despite adequate time and opportunity for sleep that results in some form of daytime impairment.
  • Lesch-Nyhan syndrome: Inherited biochemical disorder of purine metabolism caused by the virtual absence of an enzyme called hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyltransferase or HPRT.
  • Migraine: Chronic recurring headaches with or without a preceding aura.
  • Mouth conditions: Any condition that affects the mouth
  • Smith-Magenis Syndrome: A rare syndrome characterized by various developmental problems as well as various physical defects primarily affecting the head and the face.
  • Stress: Emotional stress (sometimes refers to physical stress)
  • Tinnitus: Hearing noises in the ears: ringing, roaring, clicks, whistling, or hissing.
