Glossary for Tendinitis

  • Achilles tendinitis: A condition which is characterized by inflammation and tenderness located in the Achilles tendon of the leg
  • Achilles tendonitis: Condition causing pain and inflammation in the insertion point of the Achilles tendon, usually due to activities causing repeated stress on the tendon
  • Bowel bypass syndrome: An illness that occurs in patients who have had bowel bypass surgery to treat obesity. The illness can occur days or even years after the operation. As many as a fifth of patients who undergo the operation may suffer the illness. It is believed to be caused by a build up of bacteria in a pouch in the bowel which triggers the immune system into action.
  • Bowel-associated dermatosis-arthritis syndrome: An illness that sometimes occurs in people with gastrointestinal diseases. It is believed to be caused by a build up of bacteria in a pouch in the bowel which triggers the immune system into action.
  • Connective tissue disorders: Any condition affecting connective tissues.
  • Exercise: The use of the human muscles to improve ones health
  • Golfer's elbow: Elbow and forearm disorder from repeated motions
  • Gout: Painful joints, most commonly the big toe.
  • Iliotibial Band Syndrome: Knee inflammation usually from prolonged overuse
  • Injury: Any damage inflicted in the body
  • Joint pain: Pain affecting the joints
  • Joint swelling: One or more swollen joints
  • Joint symptoms: Symptoms affecting the joints.
  • Knee tendinitis: Inflammation of the tendons of the knee joint.
  • Lateral epicondylitis: condition where the outer part of the elbow becomes painful and tender
  • Limb conditions: Medical conditions affecting the upper or lower limbs.
  • Musculoskeletal conditions: Medical conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system of bones, muscles and related structures.
  • Non-pathogenic inflammatory conditions: Medical disorders that cause inflammation, but are not due to any infectious pathogen.
  • Reiterís syndrome: A form of reactive arthritis characterized by arthritis, urethritis, conjunctivitis and skin lesions.
  • Rheumatic conditions: Any condition that affects ones joints
  • Rheumatoid arthritis: Autoimmune form of arthritis usually in teens or young adults.
  • Shin splints: Pain in the shins usually caused by sports or exercise
  • Shoulder tendinitis: A condition which is characterized by inflammation of the tendons of the shoulder
  • Tendinitis: Inflammation of a tendon.
  • Tennis elbow: Elbow and forearm disorder from repeated motions
  • Tenosynovitis: The inflammation of a tendon sheath
  • Trigger finger: It is a type of stenosing tenosynovitis in which the sheath around a tendon in a thumb or finger becomes swollen, or a nodule forms on the tendon.
