Symptoms of Testicular torsion

Symptoms of Testicular torsion: Introduction

Testicular torsion occurs most often in adolescent boys. However, any man or boy who presents with testicular pain or other symptoms of testicular torsion should be quickly evaluated for the condition.

The hallmark symptom of testicular torsion is sudden, severe testicular pain. Additional symptoms include fever, dizziness, nausea, vomiting and syncope (fainting). The affected testicle may appear red, inflamed, swollen and may look high than usual or not lie normally in the scrotum.

Testicular torsion is a true medical emergency because if it is not treated very quickly it can result in testicle strangulation. This serious complication can result in permanent damage of the testicle, the death of the testicle and surrounding tissues, infection, loss of testicle function and male infertility....more about Testicular torsion »
