Glossary for Thymoma

  • Benign tumor: A tumor or growth that remains localized; not always harmless.
  • Cancer: Abnormal overgrowth of body cells.
  • Chest pain: Pain in the chest area.
  • Cough: The noise produced from the sudden expulsion of air from the lungs
  • Good syndrome: A rare condition characterized by low immunity (due to reduced number of B cells) and thymoma.
  • Immune disorders: Disorders that affect the immune system
  • Lymphatic system conditions: Medical conditions affecting the lymphatic system including lymph nodes and lymphatic circulation.
  • Lymphatic system tumors: Any type of tumor affecting the lymphatic system, whether cancerous or benign.
  • Myasthenia Gravis: An autoimmune disorder which interferes with nerve impulses to muscles and hence results in weak, easily fatigued muscles.
  • Pure red cell aplasia: A rare blood cell disorder where there is a sudden decrease in the number of red blood cells (erythrocytes) produced by the bone marrow.
  • Shortness of breath: The feeling of being short of breath
  • Swallowing difficulty: Difficulty or pain when swallowing
  • Thymus Cancer: Cancer that occurs in the thymus
  • Thymus disorders: Any disorder that affects the thymus
