Glossary for Thyroid -- Teratogenic Agent

  • Chemical-related conditions: Medical conditions related to chemicals and toxin exposures.
  • Drug-related conditions: Medical conditions related to drug usage, including adverse reactions, intoxication, and overdose.
  • Endocrine system conditions: Medical conditions affecting the endocrine systems, such as the related hormones or glands.
  • Heart symptoms: Symptoms affecting the heart
  • Leukeran -- Teratogenic Agent: There is evidence to indicate that exposure to Leukeran (a chemotherapy drug) during pregnancy may have a teratogenic effect on the fetus. A teratogen is a substance that can cause birth defects. The likelihood and severity of defects may be affected by the level of exposure and the stage of pregnancy that the exposure occurred at.
  • Myxedema coma: Myxedema coma is a rare, life-threatening condition, occurs late in the progression of hypothyroidism. The condition is seen typically in elderly women and is often precipitated by infection, medication, environmental exposure, or other metabolic-related stresses.
  • Pregnancy-related conditions: Any condition that is related to or caused by pregnancy
  • Teratogen-related conditions: Medical conditions related to "teratogens", i.e. substances that can cause birth defects by fetal exposure.
  • Thyroid disorders: Any disorder of the thyroid gland.
