Glossary for Torsion dystonia, X-linked

  • Cramps: The painful spasmodic muscular contraction
  • Difficulty walking: Where ones has a problem with mobilizing on ones feet
  • Genetic Disease: Any disease that is handed down to oneself through the chromosomes of ones parents
  • Movement disorders: Medical conditions affecting the movement systems, such as walking or tremor.
  • Muscle conditions: Any condition that affects the muscles of the body
  • Musculoskeletal conditions: Medical conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system of bones, muscles and related structures.
  • Nervous system conditions: Diseases affecting the nerves and the nervous system.
  • Neuromuscular conditions: Conditions affecting the nerve-muscle systems.
  • Spasmodic dysphonia: A psychogenic voice disorder which has neurological origins. The vocal fold muscles spasm involuntarily during speech. May be caused by psychological factors as well as other conditions.
  • Spasms: Involuntary muscle movements without full control.
  • Speech symptoms: Problems with speech or voice.
  • Writer's cramp: A condition which is characterized by cramping of the intrinsic muscles of the hand due to use
