Toxic polyneuropathy -- Ethoglucid: Introduction
Toxic polyneuropathy -- Ethoglucid: Use of a drug called Ethoglucid may cause damage to the peripheral nervous system (neuropathy) as it can have a toxic effect on the nerves. Tolerance to the drug may vary amongst people with the elderly and other susceptible people having lower thresholds before nerve problems occur. Ethoglucid tends to cause mainly localized neuropathy.

Treatments for Toxic polyneuropathy -- Ethoglucid
- Reduce the dose of the drug or cease taking it altogether. Medication is sometimes needed to manage the pain caused by neuropathy in some cases
- Treatment of polyneuropathy related to medication or environmental exposure depends upon the causative agent, the duration of exposure, and the severity of symptoms at the time of diagnosis. Treatments include:
- Cessation of causative agent or removal from continued exposure. In some cases this may result in resolution of symptoms
- Healthy diet - B group vitamin supplementation may have a role
- Alcohol cessation or moderation - excessive alcohol consumption may worsen symptoms of neuropathy
