Nitroblue tetrazolium test: Nitroblue tetrazolium test is a blood test screen for chronic granulomatus disease; the patient's white blood cells are treated with nitroblue tetrazolium, which will turn normal WBCs dark blue due to a particular oxygen compound needed to kill bacteria in the body. Dysfunctional WBCs lack this substance and fail to turn blue.
