Nuclear scan of the uterus

Nuclear scan of the uterus: A nuclear scan of the uterus is a functional image of the pelvic area following intravenous injection of a radioactive tracer substance; the substance is uniformly metabolized by normal cells, whereas diseased cells acquire the substance more readily. The increase in radioactivity is detected by a gamma-ray camera and generates an image that shows the diseased area.
