Glossary for Ackerman syndrome

  • Dental conditions: Conditions that affect ones dentition
  • Eye and vision conditions: Medical conditions affecting the eyes or the vision systems.
  • Glaucoma: Glaucoma is the term for a diverse group of eye diseases, all of which involve progressive damage to the optic nerve. Glaucoma is usually, but not always, accompanied by high intraocular (internal) fluid pressure. Optic nerve damage produces certain characteristic visual field defects in the individual's peripheral (side), as well as central, vision.
  • Hair loss: Loss or thinning of head or body hair
  • Head Conditions: Conditions that affect the head
  • Hypotrichosis: Reduced amount of hair on head and/or body.
  • Juvenile Glaucoma: Juvenile glaucoma is a primary pen angle glaucoma with IOP increase that occurs in the first two decades of life and is often inherited.
  • Mouth conditions: Any condition that affects the mouth
  • Syndactyly: Fusion of one or more fingers or toes. The digits may be joined simply by skin or the actual bones may be fused. The fusion may involve the whole digit or only a portion of it.
  • Taurodontism: Enlarged tooth pulp chamber.
