Glossary for Acrogeria (Gottron Type)

  • Ehlers-Danlos syndrome: A group of inherited connective tissue disorders primarily involving the joints and skin. There are 11 disorders in the group.
  • Gottron's syndrome: A very rare inherited disorder characterized by the gradual loss of fatty tissue under the skin which results in a prematurely aged appearance. The hands and feet tend to be the most affected with thin, delicate skin.
  • Premature aging: Where the aging processes of the body occur earlier than normal.
  • Premature aging conditions: Medical disorders involving premature aging of the body.
  • Short stature: A rare syndrome characterized mainly by the association of short stature, Pierre Robin sequence, cleft mandible, hand anomalies and clubfoot.
  • Skin atrophy: A condition which is characterized by atrophy of the skin
  • Skin conditions: Any condition that affects the skin
  • Thin skin: A condition which is characterized by skin which is thin
