Glossary for Acute headache

  • Arterial hypertension: medical condition in which the blood pressure is chronically elevated.
  • Chemical addiction: Addiction to and abuse of various substances.
  • Diplopia: Double vision
  • Disorientation: Disorientation is an abnormal mental state in which a person is unaware of or confused to person, place, or date/time.
  • Fever: Elevation of the body temperature above the normal 37 degrees celsius
  • Head Conditions: Conditions that affect the head
  • Head injury: An injury to the head
  • Headache and migraine conditions: Medical conditions related to headaches including migraine.

  • Pseudotumor Cerebri: A condition involving increased intracranial pressure which can produce symptoms similar to a brain tumor.

  • Subarachnoid hemorrhage: Brain bleeding in the subarachnoid area
  • Venous Thrombosis: Formation of a blood clot in a vein. The clot can form in superficial veins and cause few if any symptoms or it can form in the deeper, larger leg veins which can be life-threatening in serious cases. A part of the clot can break off and travel (embolism) to the heart or lungs where it can cause serious problems.
