Glossary for Barotrauma

  • Accident or injury conditions: Medical conditions caused by accidents or physical injuries.
  • Chest pain: Pain in the chest area.
  • Dysbarism: A condition that occurs when there is a change in the surrounding pressure such as when scuba diving or moving to places of different altitudes. Dysbarism can occur when pressure increases or decreases and includes conditions such as decompression sickness, barotraumas, nitrogen narcosis, high pressure nervous system and atrial gas embolism.
  • Ear infection: An infection that affects the ear
  • Ear pain: Pain due to lesions related to the external ear or radiating pain from middle and inner ear.
  • Earache: Pain in the ear called "otalgia"
  • Hearing loss: A very rare condition described in two sisters. It is characterized by vision and hearing problems and incoordination.
  • Other conditions resulting from external causes: Medical conditions caused by some external event, such as in the environment.
  • Sinus pain: Sinuses are air cavities in the cranial bones, especially those near the nose.Inflammation of these sinuses can cause pain.
  • Tunglang-Savage-Bellman syndrome: A very rare syndrome characterized mainly by hearing loss and abnormal salivary gland function.
