Glossary for Black nightshade poisoning

  • Asthenia: A term used to describe weakness or lack of energy.
  • Balsam apple poisoning: The Balsam apple is a climbing vine which produces yellowish fruit. The fruit contains toxins - resin, saponic glycoside and alkaloids - which can cause various symptoms if eaten. Large amounts of the fruit or seeds to be consumed to cause toxicity. The leaves of the plant may be cooked, drained and eaten safely.
  • Death: The cessation of life
  • Diarrhea: Loose or watery stool.
  • Drowsiness: Excessive tiredness or sleepiness
  • Fever: Elevation of the body temperature above the normal 37 degrees celsius
  • Plant-related conditions: Medical conditions related to biological plants.
  • Poisoning, overdose or adverse reactions: Medical conditions related to poisons, drug overdosage, or drug adverse reactions.
  • Respiratory depression: Also known as bradyapnea is the decreased rate of breathing.
