Glossary for Chromosome 22, trisomy

  • Abnormal ears: Abnormal ears are irregular, deformed or malfunctioning ears.
  • Cardiac abnormalities: Any abnormalities of the cardiovascular system
  • Fetal death: The death of a fetus
  • Genetic Disease: Any disease that is handed down to oneself through the chromosomes of ones parents
  • Small head: The occurrence of a head which is smaller than normal
  • Stillbirth: Where a woman delivers a child who is dead
  • Trisomy 22: A disorder that is characterised by the occurrence of three copies of chromosome 22
  • Webbed neck: occurs in congenital malformations
