It can occur at any age but most commonly presents in the age group of 20- 30 years of age. The onset is usually sudden. It is most likely to be misdiagnosed as a case of erythema induratum of Bazin. Another condition being the cutaneous lesions of superficial thrombophlebitis. Most cases of erythema nodosum regress spontaneously in 3- 4 weeks and complications are uncommon.
