Glaucoma-red eye

Acute angle closure glaucoma is a medical emergency and can very often be misdiagnosed when it makes an atypical presentation. It occurs due to sudden increase in the intra ocular pressure. Patients may complain of sudden onset of severe pain in the affected eye with redness, nausea, vomiting ,headache and reduced vision. All cases of red eye must visit the opthalmologist the same day.Sometimes the cases may have more systemic presentations than ocular and hence the diagnosis maybe missed which can lead to blindness.
