Glossary for Fibromatosis

  • Benign tumor: A tumor or growth that remains localized; not always harmless.
  • Duputyren's contracture:
  • Fibromatosis multiple non ossifying: A very rare syndrome characterized mainly by bone abnormalities which causes the bones to fracture easily.
  • Infantile digital fibromatosis: A rare disorder where firm pink nodules develop mainly on the fingers and toes of infants. Often they are present at birth. There is no determined cause but it is considered a harmless condition. Often the lumps disappear on their own and others can be surgically removed but they often recur.
  • Lump: Any type of lump on the skin or body areas
  • Soft tissue tumors: Any tumor of the soft tissues (e.g. muscles, cartilage), including cancer and benign tumors.
