What is Medulloblastoma?

  • Medulloblastoma: A type of brain tumor.
  • Medulloblastoma: Medulloblastoma (WHO grade IV) is a malignant, invasive embryonal tumor of the cerebellum which occurs more often in children. It has a predominantly neuronal differentiation and a tendency to metastasize via CSF pathways. Histologically, classic Medulloblastomas are composed of densely packed cells with round-to-oval or carrot-shaped highly hyperchromatic nuclei surrounded by scanty cytoplasm. Neuroblastic rosettes are a typical but not constant feature. There are four histologic types: Desmoplastic Medulloblastoma, Large Cell Medulloblastoma, Medullomyoblastoma, Melanotic Medulloblastoma.
