Hydrocolloid powder

Summary Information: Hydrocolloid powder

Hydrocolloid powder: A hydrocolloid powder is a moist medical dressing that is applied to a wound. The hydrocolloid (e.g. carboxymethylcellulose) absorbs the fluid draining from the wound, forming a gel-like material that maintains a moist healing environment while keeping out foreign substances. Hydrocolloid dressings are used for many different kinds of wounds that drain little to large amounts of fluid.
