Neutron radiation therapy system

Summary Information: Neutron radiation therapy system

Neutron radiation therapy system: A neutron radiation therapy system is an accelerator that generates high energy neutron radiation beams for clinical treatment of certain cancers or conditions resistant to traditional radiation treatment (so-called radioresistant tumors). Radiation from high-energy neutrons has the capacity to induce more cellular damage than ionizing radiation. The accelerator may include the necessary equipment (e.g. computer system) for radiation planning, or to direct the radiation beam to the desired location with minimal to no damage of surrounding, healthy tissue.
