Panoramic dental X-ray machine: A panoramic dental X-ray machine is a dental device that sends ionizing radiation ("X-rays") from an external source through the mouth. The machine contains the X-ray film and makes a half circle around the patient's head to produce a two-dimensional panoramic picture of the oral space. Decaying and healthy teeth and bone will absorb different amounts of radiation to produce a contrast image and indicate any tooth decay or diseases of the jaw bones.
