Parallel bars: Parallel bars are a type of physical therapy equipment consisting of two long bars that lie parallel to one another at the same or different distances above the ground, which may be a platform to which the bars are fixed. The patient will hold onto the bars as they are walking from one end to the other. Parallel bars may also be used prior to crutches, walkers and canes.
