Thoracoscope: A thoracoscope is a small diameter rigid tube with a camera on the end used to view the chest cavity, including the mediastinum, lungs, and pleural space that surrounds the lungs. Thoracoscopes usually have more than one port for viewing and for inserting surgical instruments for biopsy or treatment of disease. Thoracoscopes are used for video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS).
