Introduction: Flavin adenine dinucleotide

Description of Flavin adenine dinucleotide

Flavin adenine dinucleotide: coenzyme composed of riboflavin 5'-phosphate and adenosine 5'-phosphate linked by a pyrophosphate bond; it forms the prosthetic group of many flavoprotein enzymes, serving as an electron carrier by being alternately oxidized (FAD) and reduced (FMNH2); important in electron transport in mitochondria and the endoplasmic reticulum.
