Description of Folic acid

Folic acid: A natural water-soluble substance composed of pteridin, p-aminobenzoic acid, and glutamic acid subunits and essential for hematopoietic cells and blood cell production, Folic Acid (pteroylglutamic acid and vitamin B families) is involved in carbon transfer reactions of amino acid metabolism, as well as purine and pyrimidine synthesis. Folate is used in the treatment and prevention of folate deficiencies and megaloblastic anemia. (NCI04)

Folic acid: A member of the vitamin B family that stimulates the hematopoietic system. It is present in the liver and kidney and is found in mushrooms, spinach, yeast, green leaves, and grasses (POACEAE). Folic acid is used in the treatment and prevention of folate deficiencies and megaloblastic anemia.
