Membrane protein: proteins which are found in membranes including cellular and intracellular membranes; consist of two types, peripheral and integral proteins; includes most membrane-associated enzymes, antigenic proteins, transport proteins, and drug, hormone, and lectin receptors; note that individual membrane proteins have not been exhaustively treed under this term.
