Description of Paracentesis

Paracentesis: Removal of fluid from the abdomen via a needle inserted through the abdominal wall. Also call an abdominal tap.

Paracentesis: A procedure in which fluid is withdrawn from a body cavity via a trocar and cannula, needle, or other hollow instrument.
