Description of Thapsigargin

Thapsigargin: protein kinase C independent tumor promoter; selectively inhibits Ca++/ATPase activity in the endoplasmic reticulum.

Thapsigargin: A sesquiterpene lactone found in roots of THAPSIA. It inhibits CA(2+)-TRANSPORTING ATPASE mediated uptake of CALCIUM into SARCOPLASMIC RETICULUM.
