Glossary for Neuropathy sensory spastic paraplegia

  • Abnormal gait: An abnormal way of walking
  • Degenerative conditions: Diseases characterized by a progressive and degenerative decline.
  • Foot ulcer: A skin ulcer that is located on the foot
  • Genetic Disease: Any disease that is handed down to oneself through the chromosomes of ones parents
  • Hyperreflexia: An exaggerated reflex of the muscles
  • Leg paralysis: A loss of the motor and or sensory function of the leg due to either a muscular or neural mechanism
  • Leg weakness: Muscle weakness of the leg
  • Limb conditions: Medical conditions affecting the upper or lower limbs.
  • Lower limb conditions: Any medical condition affecting the lower limbs, i.e. the legs, knees, feet, etc..
  • Movement disorders: Medical conditions affecting the movement systems, such as walking or tremor.
  • Muscle conditions: Any condition that affects the muscles of the body
  • Musculoskeletal conditions: Medical conditions affecting the musculoskeletal system of bones, muscles and related structures.
  • Nervous system conditions: Diseases affecting the nerves and the nervous system.
  • Neuromuscular conditions: Conditions affecting the nerve-muscle systems.
  • Neuropathy: Peripheral neuropathy is the term for damage to nerves of the peripheral nervous system, which may be caused either by diseases of the nerve or from the side-effects of systemic illness.
  • Sensory conditions: Medical conditions affecting the sensory system, especially the sense of touch.
  • Spasticity: Continuous contraction or stiffness of muscles.
