Glossary for Norum disease

  • Anemia: Reduced ability of blood to carry oxygen from various possible causes.
  • Corneal opacities: can occur due to extrinsic factors or diseases of the cornea itself
  • Fish-eye disease: A familial disorder involving corneal opacities and low HDL cholesterol levels. It occurs as a result of an enzyme (lecithin:cholesterol acyltransferase) deficiency.
  • Genetic Disease: Any disease that is handed down to oneself through the chromosomes of ones parents
  • Haemolytic anaemia:
  • Impaired vision: Reduced or degraded vision.
  • Kidney failure: Total failure of the kidneys to filter waste
  • Lipid metabolism conditions: Disorders affecting the metabolism of lipids (blood fats), including cholesterol.
  • Metabolic disorders: Disorders that affect the metabolic system in human
  • Normocytic anemia: Normocytic anemia is a blood disorder characterized by red blood cells which are of a normal size but present in insufficient quantities. It is often associated with chronic diseases, blood loss, bone marrow problems and kidney disease. It can also be the result of an inherited condition.
  • Proteinuria: Protein in the urine
