70% of people in India may have undiagnosed diabetes

A study of 18,000 people in India has revealed that up to 70% of people may have undiagnosed diabetes which is higher than what was expected. Symptoms of diabetes include weight loss, frequent urination and hunger which are generally not recognized by people. Late diagnosis means late treatment which can result increased risk of complications such as eye damage, kidney damage, nerve damage, heart damage and increased mortality.
