Diabetes seems to disproportionately affect Asians and Pacific Islanders. Also, Asians and Pacific Islanders living in the US have higher rates than those living in their native lands. This has been caused by rapid urbanization and industrialization where people have less time to exercise and have a more unhealthy western diet.
