Avian flu countdown for America

Health officials are hurriedly forming a plan to cope with potential avian flu pandemic that is predicted to kill 2-7 million people globally according to the World Health Organization (WHO). The planning incorporates consideration of the quantity of vaccines, the availability of hospital services, and provision of enough protective wear, i.e masks. The flu virus was isolated from chickens in Asia and was shown to mutate into a form that infected humans, it has not yet developed the ability to transfer between humans. Avian flu has a high mortality with 60 deaths reported from 116 cases. An influenza pandemic in 1918-19 killed 50 million people worldwide.
