Bacterial meningitis more deadly than viral meningitis

Meningitis symptoms are often difficult to diagnose as they are similar to the flu. Viral meningitis causes fever, headaches and vomiting but the more deadly bacterial meningitis also causes a stiff neck. Early diagnosis and treatment is essential for a good outcome. If treatment not early, patients can be left with deafness, brain damage, sight problems, limb loss, epilepsy, balance problems and depression.
